دوستان مترجمی و ادبیات انگلیسی و علاقه مندان به فن ترجمه حتما بخونید این چند خط رو:
امروزه ترجمه بشتراز دیدگاه های زبان شناسی تاثیر می پذیرد و یکی از این دیدگاه ها همین Whorfian Hypothesis است که اینگونه بیان می کند : " زبان مدرن ما افکار و رفتار ما را شکل می دهد. بنا بر این دیدگاه معنا اساسا در روند ترجمه اگر نه کاملا، بلکه تا حدی گم می شود چون هر زبان برای خود منحصرا از لحاظ Lexical قوانین خاصی دارد و هم ساختار تشکیل جمله یا همان گرامر در هر زبان با زبان دیگر فرق دارد. از آن جا که ترجمه تغییر شکل و ساختار زبان مبدا به زبان مقصد است پس معنایی که در همین Grammatical and Lexical aspect ها نهفته است در این راه گم می شود."
پ.ن: دوستان شصت سال است که روی این فرضیه کار شده است پس هرگز زود قضاوت نکرده و این دیدگاه را محوریت رویکرد خود قرار ندهید یا شدیدا با آن مخالفت نکنید.

Register چیست؟
در لغت شناسی یا همان Morphology هنگامی که از Register یک لغت صحبت می شود اشاره به رسمی(formal) بودن یا غیر رسمی(informal) بودن آن لغت دارد. گاهی برخی لغات به خصوص phrasal verb ها جنبه ی غیر رسمی دارند و نمی توان در متن های آکادمیک و رسمی آن ها را به کار برد. شما می توانید در زبان فارسی خودمان بر فرض مثال بگویید: یه نگاه به درخواستش می اندازم. اما در یک موقعیت رسمی باید همین جمله را اینگونه به کار ببرید: درخواست شما مورد بررسی قرار خواهد گرفت.
اکنون چند مثال:
He went into the request of employees in great detail and finally decided to send their request for the boss

He attended to request of employees in great detail and finally decided to send their request for the boss
during the war he defected to the enemy side and finally was killed in action.

"Viva la Difference"
زبان شناسان این جمله را در مبحث آواشناسی به هنگام برخوردن به تفاوت های اقلیمی که باعث تفاوت در ادای یک واژه یا یک صدا در یک زبان واحد می شود به کار می برند.
به عنوان مثال نحوه ی بیان واژه ی Brown توسط یک کالیفرنیایی با یک ایرلندی و از طرف دیگر یک مکزیکی یا یک عرب زبان که همه تلاش دارند یک مفهوم را برسانند فرق می کنند.
اینجاست که زبان شناسان با بکار بردن "Viva la Difference" تفاوت ها را خوش آمد می گویند چرا که اگرچه به دلیل محل زندگی و گویش افراد نحوه ی ادای این تلفظ ها فرق می کند اما همگی یک مفهوم را می رسانند و سعی در ارتباط با اطرافیان از طریق زبان دارند

دو اصطلاح از Memory که خیلی راحت هم به ذهن سپرده می شن:

Jog one's memory چیزی را به یادکسی آوردن
I gave her clues to jog her memory

Commit sth to memory
چیزی را به خاطر سپردن، چیزی را از بر کردن
If you want to be succesful in you next exam you must commit all

 این اصطلاح وقتی در مورد انسان بکار میره یعنی اینکه با کسی با وجود اینکه اون طرف بد خلقه یا بد اخلاقه یا هرچی ، کنار بیاین و در مورد غیر انسان هم همینطور یعنی با موقعیت نه چندان مناسبی کنار اومدن (قبول کردن شرایط بد)
مثال: it took years for Rob to come to terms with his mother’s death
“سالها طول کشید تا راب با مرگ مادرش کنار بیاد”

be on good/bad/friendly terms with sb یعنی با کسی خوب جور بودن ، با کسی جور نبود ، رابطه ی خوبی نداشتن

مثال: Tim’s still on good terms with his ex
” تیم هنوزم با همسر سابقش رابطه ی خوبی داره”

* not on speaking terms with sb یا not speaking یعنی با کسی حرف نزدن یا به عبارتی “با کسی قهر بودن”
مثال: Clair and Andy aren’t speaking

مثلا داری جدول کلمات متقاطع حل میکنی....ونوشته رییس دایره " اس اس" در آلمان نازی و پنج حرفه.......شما هم جوابو نمی دونی....همون لحظه اتفاقی تلویزینو روشن میکنی و برنامه " در جستجوی نازی ها" داره پخش میشه و میگه:
در آلمان رایش سوم ، رییس بخش "اس اس" و بازوی چپ هیتلر " هاینریش هیملر" پس از دستگیری و .....
اینجاست که شما میگی :

Steal vs Rob
Steal: to take sth without permission or legaltight
she was found guilty of stealing from her employers
او را به جرم دزدی از مافوقش گرفته بودند
Attention: the prepositions "from" " is always followed by the verb steal
Rob: take property unlawfully from (a person or place) by force or threat of force
she was robbed of her handbag
کیف دستی اش را از او دزدیده بودند

اما تفاوت در چیست؟
وقتی می خواهیم اشاره به دزدین چیزی از کسی کنیم از Steal استفاده کرده ولی وقتی می خواهیم بگویی کسی مورد سرقت واقع شده و به عبارت دیگر شخص مفعول واقع شده است است rob استفاده کرده و همچنین پس از افعال To Be نیز از Rob استفاده می کنیم.
این دو تعریف از کاربرد این دو فعل نیز تاحد زیادی مشکل را رفع می کند.

اگه ما نا خواسته حرفی رو بزنیم که نباید میزدیم ، اصطلاحا میگیم “از دهنم پرید”. تو انگلیسی هم برای یه همچین موقعیتی از slip out استفاده می کنیم.

Dangling Modifier

A dangling modifier is an error caused by not placing the noun being modified next to its modifier (or failing to use the noun being modified in the sentence).

Example:

Having seen Blackpool Tower, the Eiffel Tower is more impressive.

The example above intimates that the Eiffel Tower has seen the Blackpool Tower. A correct version would be:

Having seen Blackpool Tower, I am more impressed with the Eiffel Tower.

This version is correct, because "I" is logically attached to "Having seen Blackpool Tower". (Note: "I" is a pronoun: a type of noun.)

Example:

Being born in Dawlish, it is understandable that I miss the sea so much.


In this example, "it" was not born in Dawlish. Better versions would be:

Being born in Dawlish, I understand why I miss the sea so much.
As I was born in Dawlish, it is understandable why I miss the sea so much.
("As I was born in Dawlish" is not a modifier.)

WHICH WORD?

also / as well / too

Also is more formal than as well and too, and it usually comes before the main verb or after be: I went to New York last year, and I also spent some time in Washington. In BrE it is not usually used at the end of a sentence. Too is much more common in spoken and informal English. It is usually used at the end of a sentence:
'I'm going home now.' 'I'll come too.'. In BrE as well is used like too, but in AmE it sounds formal or old-fashioned.
When you want to add a second negative point in a negative sentence, use not...either: She hasn't phoned and she hasn't written either. If you are adding a negative point to a positive one, you can use not...as well/too:
You can have a burger, but you can't have fries as well.

Usage Note: Some maintain that it is inappropriate to begin a sentence with also. In an earlier survey, however, 63 percent of the Usage Panel found acceptable the example The warranty covers all power-train components. When you want to add another reason and give it special emphasis or importance, use furthermore, moreover, what's more or besides : 'The drug has powerful side effects. Moreover, it can be addictive.' Also is not wrong but does not have the same persuasive force.
